About Airborne NZ

Airborne NZ is a locally owned and operated company specializing in agricultural and other precision drone spraying services. Coming from a background in traditional manned aviation we’ve identified the incredibly diverse potential for drone use in agriculture.

We can help with anything from blanket crop spraying, woody weed spot spraying, precision wand spraying and commercial and industrial roof treatments for moss and mould.

Based in Taupo, we’re well located to service the central plateau and the southern Waikato/BOP areas.

Airborne NZ takes our responsibility of caring for and minimizing our impact on the environment seriously.

While our operational carbon emissions are not zero they are significantly lower than other more traditional airborne and ground based spraying methods at approximately 5kg of CO2 emitted per flight hour.
One of the huge advantages of drone use when applying agrichemicals and granular fertilizers is precise application. We go to great lengths to keep the product out of the waterways and away from non target species and sensitive areas.
Agrichemical application via drone is accurate which means we maximize the potential of your expensive products keeping them on target and minimizing waste. Our aircraft and support equipment are exceptionally quiet which allows us to work in and around more built up areas due to our minimal noise footprint.
Our crew use mixing and loading procedures that minimize spills and have the equipment on hand to contain spills if necessary.
Airborne NZ dispose of our empty chemical containers by utilizing the service provided by AgRecovery.

Airborne NZ is a fully NZCAA certified part 102 Agricultural Drone operator. All of our pilots have completed part 102 commercial pilot certification and annually complete recurrence checks by our preferred part 141 Training provider to ensure competency and currency.
With extensive backgrounds in farming and conventional manned agricultural aviation our pilots are exceptionally well suited to the role.
All Airborne NZ ground crew have completed the appropriate Growsafe agrichemical handling course, are provided with comprehensive PPE equipment and approach all jobs with a high level of professionalism.

Job planning procedures ensure all local hazards have been considered prior to work commencement.
Airborne NZ pilots take great care to make sure conflict with other manned aviator’s does not happen.

The vast majority of our work takes place at very low level but we still keep a listening watch out on the local aviation frequency, identify the airspace we’re operating within via OzRunways and notify all of our operations via Flight Advisor.
Airborne NZ Ltd carries Public Liability/3rd Party insurance to the value of $3,500,000 NZD.
